The undergraduate programs offered by the Department of Biology aim to develop and produce graduates who are well grounded on the fundamental concepts and principles in the biological sciences, continuously abreast with developments in the different fields of biological studies, intellectually capable, morally upright, and with a strong sense of ethical behavior and service to society. It aims to produce competent professionals in the academe, research, and industry, who are reflective lifelong learners and are equipped to pursue studies in graduate or medical school.
The enhancement of the Basic Education Curriculum led to the revision of the Bachelor of Science in Biology curriculum. The Department of Biology offers three (3) tracks, namely: (1) Medical Biology; (2) Systematics and Ecology; and (3) Molecular Biology and Biotechnology within the BS in Biology curriculum starting Academic Year 2018-2019.  The specialization courses create a commitment between students and their topic of study within the biology major. These also provide structure to electives to assist students’ development in their fields of interest. Moreover, the specialized courses in each track provide expertise in the field of biology for students seeking admission to graduate school, medical school, or other programs.
The Department also offers accelerated programs that aim to develop competent professionals in the biological sciences who are equipped to pursue medical and veterinary courses in a shorter period. The program enables highly qualified students to obtain a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in six years.
All students must pass the ¿ªÔªÕæÈË College Admission Test. The information regarding applications, testing dates and venues, the release of results, and other requirements including those from foreign applicants may be viewed at Undergraduate Admissions. Downloadable forms and brochures are likewise available from this site. The University offers a variety of scholarships for academic, merit, and financial assistance.
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
All BS Biology track programs provide a well-rounded education in the life sciences, with equivalent emphasis on plant, animal, and microbial fields. Students are introduced to the basic subjects of Zoology and Botany in their freshman year to serve as a springboard for more specialized subjects such as Genetics, Physiology, and Embryology in their next two years. The program also stresses the importance of biological research and inculcates basic skills in research methods and experimental work via consecutive Bioresearch subjects. Biology major is exposed to the different aspects of Biology through lectures, laboratory works, research and field trips. The program not only gives students a firm foothold of the underlying principles of biology. It also relates learning to present-day social and environmental issues such as population control, genetics and heredity, environmental preservation, or breakthroughs in the medical frontier.
The Medical Biology track provides a strong foundation in the concepts and applications of the biological sciences, and excellent laboratory and research skills for students who are interested in pursuing a career in the medical or paramedical field. Students are exposed to the etiology, pathogenesis, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of microbial, parasitic, arthropod-related as well as non-infectious. This track is available on both the Manila and Laguna campuses.

The Molecular Biology & Biotechnology track aims to broaden the options for students trained in Biology to include careers in biotechnology research, the academia, industry, and innovation start-ups. The program will be developing in students’ biotechnology skills in the laboratory and in accessing and analyzing big data from open access DNA, RNA and protein repositories, to enable them to actively participate as movers and leaders of the biomolecular revolution in the Philippines. The program is heavily anchored on biological theory and the developments in the local, regional, and global health and wellness, agriculture and environment industries. Instruction in the five specialization courses – molecular genetics, proteomics & genomics, bioinformatics, agricultural biotechnology, and industrial biotechnology & enterprise – will focus on gene structure, function and expression, and their applications to medical and industrial microbiology, physiology, developmental biology, molecular diagnosis of diseases, screening and characterization of natural products and molecular ecology and systematics. The program is designed to foster multi-disciplinary & multi-level mentoring and the integration of instruction, research & extension activities. This track is available on the Manila campus.Â

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
The Bachelor of Science in Human Biology is a three-year program at De La Salle University-Manila (¿ªÔªÕæÈË-M) campus being offered in consortium with ¿ªÔªÕæÈËCollege of Medicine of the ¿ªÔªÕæÈË Medical & Health Sciences Institute (DLS-MHSI).
The program allows highly qualified students to obtain a Doctor of Medicine degree from DLS-MHSI in just six (6) years. The first two-year courses will be taken at ¿ªÔªÕæÈË-M while the third-year courses will be taken at DLS-MHSI. The third year courses are the first year courses of the regular medicine proper students of the College. These will be taken together with the regular first-year students of the DLS-MHSI.
After obtaining the BS Human Biology degree, the graduate will be admitted into the DLS-MHSI directly into the second year of medicine proper. A student thus obtains his Doctor of Medicine in only six (6) years.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
The Bachelor of Science in Animal Biology program offers students training in the biological and natural sciences as they apply to animals from the molecular to the ecological and evolutionary levels of organization. This program prepares students primarily for a career in veterinary medicine. It is a three-year program offered by the Department of Biology, College of Science, ¿ªÔªÕæÈË(¿ªÔªÕæÈË), in consortium with the College of Veterinary Medicine and Agricultural Sciences, De La Salle Araneta University (DLSAU). After two academic years in ¿ªÔªÕæÈË, the third and last year of the BS program is implemented in DLSAU where first-year veterinary medicine courses are taken. The BS in Animal Biology degree is conferred to the students after the third year. Graduates are expected to continue for another three years in DLSAU to take courses leading to the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree. The program is unique as it leads to two degrees in six years.
