Prof. Allan N. Soriano is a licensed chemical engineer and currently the Vice-Chair of the Department of Chemical Engineering, De La Salle University-Manila. His research activities on the thermophysical and transport property characterization and correlation development for industrially important solvent systems such as ionic liquids, alkanolamines, and have significantly contributed to the data base of properties. He received numerous awards including, the Outstanding Youn Scientists in 2011, the Outstanding Chemical Engineer Award (OChEA) of the PIChE for the Research and Development, the National Research Council of the Philippines Achievement Award in 2014.To date,听Dr. Soriano had published more than eighty (80) international (ISI/Scopus-indexed) journal articles, around twenty (20) local journal articles, and one (1) book chapter.

Research Interest

  • Mathematical modelling and process simulations of chemical and environmental engineering processes; and statistical and thermodynamic analysis of industrial systems.
  • Property measurement and correlation development of specialty chemicals such as (i) desiccant mixed solvent systems like aqueous glycols with salt, (ii) biological buffer like TRIS and TAPS, (iii) desmearing solutions for PCB, (iv) etchant solutions for texturization of monocrystalline silicon wafer for solar cells, and (v) pharmaceutically active compounds, including antibiotics, loperamide, vitamin C, ibuprofen, and naproxen.
  • Carbon dioxide absorption using various absorbents (such as alkanolamines, ionic liquids, deep eutectic solvents, and amino acids): measurement of properties (thermophysical, kinetics, and transport) and development of correlations (mathematical and theoretical models).
